Joan Johnson

Hello Students,

My name is Ms. Joan Johnson; I am a full-time instructor at Lake-Sumter State College. I have been teaching at Lake-Sumter for nearly 25 years. I teach Computer Science courses. I started here as a student with a student assistant position in the computer lab, and then taught as an adjunct for many years..

I single handedly raised 6 daughters; several of them graduated from Lake-Sumter and others are currently working on a degree. Two of my daughters have their MBA from St. Leo University. My oldest granddaughter graduated from LSSC & UCF and is teaching in Clermont. I have 13 grandchildren; 10 of them are boys. I also have a great‑granddaughter who will turn 8 in Sept of 2019 and a great-grandson who  turned three Feb. 2019. My family is VERY important to me, and we often do things together.

My 6 daughters on the left, I am with them on the right.

I love to teach, have an intellectual discussion, and answer questions. As with many courses, homework is just one component of the class. It is important to keep up with the homework and to read the book in order to earn a high passing grade.

Students can contact me in several ways:

Via E-Mail at: johnsonj@lssc.edu

Via Phone at: 352-536-2108

Students MUST use their LakeHawk email to contact the instructor, or can send a message thru Canvas.

My office is on the South Lake campus in Building 2, room 346.

Summer of 2019, I will have office hours:

Summer A I will be available by appointment only. Summer B I will have office hours on Wednesdays from 9 am to 11 am in Leesburg. My office is in Lake Hall.

I look forward to working with you to accomplish your goal of successfully completing class. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have.

Ms, Joan Johnson
